Dewey Decimal 700s
Just talked to Sport--long, long time. Started out as English paper consultation. Ended up as music discussion. Songs used to mean something. "Peg" by Steely Dan is a great song. Where is Sly Stone?
Where is he? Sly and the Family Stone fared well in VH-1's Top 100 artists of all time. A performance clip was shown but no interviews (OK, one) or biography. This band blows me away. It's not even where is he now? Where has he been?
My favorite part of the library is the arts (700s), specifically music--rock-n-roll. I've seen all kinds of books, none on Sly. There are dozens of Beatles books, a few Bob Marley, etc. The books I've seen are well deserved, but many who deserve books don't have them. A mention here and there is nice, helpful, but not enough. These stories need to be told. This is history!
I want to find Sly, talk to him. Mom guesses he's strung out on drugs. Well? I must know. His story must be told. Even if he's dead, it must be told. Even if people don't want to hear it, it must be told. Please, Sly. Tell it.
