KROQ
My Careers in Communications class went to KROQ. I was excited to go there. I expected it to be this grandiose place. KROQ is the huge institution, well respected, influence on modern music. Ana came on the tour. I figured if anybody would appreciate the trip, she would.
We got there, and the receptionist didn't have any record of a tour being scheduled. It was a long drive. All we wanted was a tour. How hard could it be for someone to take a few minutes to walk us through? We waited and waited in the cramped front room as people walked in and out. Call after call came in, each one answered with "Infinity KROQ" (whatever that meant). After the fact, Ana would name the DJ who had just been in the room. The only KROQ DJ I could recognize is Lightning, the cocky short man from Cocomos. Sure enough, I saw him, but I didn't let that get me down.
Finally, we got a tour. My enjoyment did not come from hearing about the station. It came from imagining all of the bands who had been there. The walls were decorated with posters and stickers. The space was tight. Everything seemed cramped. KROQ was not big enough.

We got back to school, and there was a note on my car. Although it was not signed, I knew it was from Em. I don't know what exactly it said. She loved me and wanted me to stop by her room. She mentioned no reason to go to her room. I was tired and hungry. I wasn't going to go there just because she wanted me to.
