LIFE B4 TEXT

Sensuous speeches

I didn't cite my Shakespeare sonnet last week, so I had to do it today. I didn't want to do it, but if I had to, I would. So I went, and I'm here.

I was the second to do my sonnet. I had it memorized, but I was nervous. I tried to shake it off but I couldn't. I had to call "line" a couple of times. I did feel the emotion, though. But forgetting what I was supposed to say took away from the performance.

Sean, the instructor, offered me some tips to do it better, a second time. He told me to imagine this person in the audience. I had to talk to him, to tell him I couldn't get him off my mind. Previously, I tried to be John Lennon talking to Yoko. I've been listening to Double Fantasy lately. There's a lot of love on that album. The second time, though, I decided to let it come from myself. I imagined my own person out there. It worked. I didn't stumble. I received a reaffirming applause and positive feedback.

Sean said I gave the piece a SENSUOUS quality. Aaah yeah! He always comments on the quality of my voice, too, which he did again. I felt good and will be more confident the next time.
